Found Any Good Deals Lately? - If you've found a deal that you think we can use, let us know about it. If we use it, you'll get a great reward from our new FareAlertUs program!

Don't Worry, We're Still Around! - We know it's been slow for FareAlert deals recently. Unfortunately, that's the nature of how deals like this work... we can't predict when or where they will strike. This means that you should always be on the lookout for extraordinary deals. Coming very soon, we'll have a new program to reward our members for finding great deals. Check back later this week for more details!

Comments on the new site? - We have put a lot of time and effort into designing our new website, and we would like to hear your feedback. Please contact us with any comments or suggestions that you might have. Thanks!

Frequently Asked Questions / Support

Here are our attempts to answer some of the most frequently asked questions about the FareAlert website and mailing list.

If your question is not answered above, or you need additional assistance, please feel free to send an email to admin@farealert.net and we'll do our best to assist you.

If you are a member of the media and would like to interview us or write about FareAlert, please send an email to media@farealert.net.

Where are the deals on the website?

There are no deals posted on the website itself. What we offer on this site is an alerts list. All you need to do is subscribe to the alerts list, and when we discover a new deal, we will send you an alert with the details.

What kind of alerts do you offer?

What we do not send out are "regular" fare sales, discounts, or specials. These alerts are available from many other sources. We only send out alerts that are truly unique, and beyond the scope of a normal sale. Examples of past alerts have included British Airways selling trans-oceanic tickets for $20 and hotel rooms at the W Times Square (New York City) for $25.

What is the best fare from Los Angeles to Hong Kong? Can you find me a deal to Miami on June 10th?

Please see the above question. We don't offer deals for specific locations/dates. If you're looking for the lowest fares for a particular trip, check out your favorite airline or general travel website.

How much does this service cost?

Our service costs absolutely nothing for you to use*. We are able to keep the running at no cost to our subscribers thanks to the generous sponsorship of Booking Buddy.

* While we do not charge you anything to receive our alerts, your email provider may charge you to receive emails (especially if you are forwarding messages to a cellular phone). Make sure you check with your email provider to determine if there will be any charges.

Are you going to spam me or sell my information?

No. It's as simple as that. Please see our privacy policy for more information.

How many alerts will I get?

We will only send out alerts when there is a truely extraordinary deal. Due to the unpredictable nature of these deals, it's hard to say how many alerts we will send out. There could be three in one week, and then none for a month or more. We would estimate you will receive between three and five alerts per month.

Can I receive alerts only for a particular city, region, or country?

Because we send out so few alerts, we send all alerts to all of our members. It's not possible at this time for us to personalize the alerts.

How do I subscribe to the alerts?

Visit our subscription page. Just enter your name and email address, and we'll send you an email to confirm that you really own that address (this prevents others from signing you up).

How do I know if I am subscribed already? How can I verify that I am still subscribed?

Try to subscribe yourself again, using the form on our homepage. If you receive an email letting you know that you are already subscribed, then you know that you are successfully subscribed to FareAlert.

Why did I receive an email stating "your subscription has already been confirmed" when I tried to confirm my subscription?

When you subscribe, you will be emailed with a link that contains a special confirmation code. Once you click the link and auccessfully activate your subscription, your code is deleted from our system. If you click the link again, the system will try to activate your subscription again. Since you have already activated your subscription, it generates an email to let you know.

May I subscribe my cellular phone or pager?

Absolutely. Most phones or pagers have an email address which will send the message to you as an email or SMS (text message). If you do not know your device's email address (they are usually similar to xxxyyyzzzz@provider.com), please contact your service provider. There are a few things to keep in mind. Remember that some providers or service plans may charge you for each message received. Additionally, most SMS messages only include the first 160 (or fewer) characters of the message. Also, if you can't access the confirmation URL that we send when you subscribe, you'll need to be manually added. Please email us at mobile@farealert.net and we will manually add you.

May I sign up more than one email address?

Yes. Some of our members have their personal, work, and mobile addresses subscribed, so they will get our alerts no matter where they are.

What address do the emails come from?

We will send emails from the address farealert@alerts.farealert.net. Please make sure you add this address to your address book, or whitelist it, so our emails do not get marked as "junk mail" by your mail software.

How do I unsubscribe from the alerts?

Visit our subscription page. Just enter your email address, and we'll take you off the list.

May I forward your deals to my family and friends? May I repost them on other websites?

You may email or post an excerpt of a deal or a link to a deal, however emailing or reposting an entire deal is not permitted. Please see our Terms Of Use for more information.

When I checked my email the deal you sent me was already expired... what happened?

Due to the nature of the deals we send you it is possible that they are only around for very short periods of time. Many of our subscribers use their work email address to recieve the deals, and don't check for new messages for hours or even days. When you signup, make sure you use an email address that you check regularly, if you want to be sure you do not miss a deal, consider signing up your mobile phone or other mobile email device.

I booked one of your deals, but I was told by the airline or hotel that my booking was cancelled and would not be honored, what can I do?

FareAlert deals are often the result of errors in booking systems. Policies vary from site to site and thus, not all deals will be honored by the booking site and/or vendor. FareAlert has absolutely no control over this and we don't make any promises that the fare you booked will be honored. Please do not email us if your booking has been cancelled, as we will not be able to help you.

I will be out of the office on vacation, can I keep receiving messages from FareAlert?

Yes, but we kindly request you do not signup with an email address that sends an "out of office" response. As part of our anti-spam measures we reserve the right to remove any subscribers that "bounce" email from us, including auto-responder replies. If you are going to be unable to read your email, consider unsubscribing or setting up filters so you can continue to receive our messages.

I tried to book the deal but could not find the same results you sent me... what's going on?

It is possible that the deal has expired, but since many of our deals involve very specific booking instructions, make sure you followed exactly what is posted in the deal page. The information we provide has to be followed exactly to find the deal, any change in this information could result in not being able to find the deal.

I have a great deal for you. How do I send out an alert to your members?

If you have a deal that our members should know about, just fill out this form and let us know.

I submitted an alert, but it didn't get sent out (or it had someone else's name on it)... why?

In order to prevent abuse, make sure that only the best deals are sent out, and screen out duplicates, we have implemented a system of moderation. When you let us know about a deal, our staff of moderators gets an email about it. They will review the deal and if they feel it is appropriate, they will send it on to our members. Sometimes we will get upwards of ten people submitting the same or similar deals, so we'll choose one and send that one out.

Why are you doing this? How much do you get paid to run this site?

We do not get paid anything to run this site. We fund our hardware and hosting costs out of the sponsorships we receive and our own pockets. We set up the site and continue to run it in our spare time because we love to travel as well, and we enjoy getting great deals.

How many members do you have?

We have over 50000 members subscribed, and we're adding more every day.

Are you looking for additional moderators or administrators?

We do not currently need any additional staff. However, if you're interested in helping us out, please email admins@farealert.net and we'll keep you in mind if we have a need in the future.

May I make a suggestion?

If you have a comment, criticism, suggestion, idea, or just want to tell us that we rock, we'd love to hear it. Send it to admins@farealert.net.
